Basic Principles

1. MNG – Generalized cause, Solitary Nodule – Local cause (more likely neoplastic)

2. Immunity of patients ; Cellulitis < Erisipelas < Abscess

 

Abdomen

  1. Upper and lower GI separated by Ligament of Treitz.
  2. GI Tract can be divided into 3 as Fore, Mid and Hind gut.
  3. Pain arising from visceral organs will be poorly localized but pain arising due to irritation of parietal peritoneum will be well localized. (Eg: Pgoression of pain in Appendicites)
  4. Pain from foregut structures will be felt in epigastrium, mid gut structures around umbilicus and hind gut structures in hypogastrium.

  1. Colonic cancers secrete CEA. Can’t diagnose. Used to monitor.  
  2. Right colon cancer will present as Fe deficiency Anaemia due to occult bleeding.
